Welcome to smycms.com
The website of The Smycms.
The Smycms have been in existence since 1963, staging musical shows every year since. From small beginnings in the church hall of St. Michaels Church, Edinburgh with Swingalong, they finally arrived on the Edinburgh Am Dram scene in 1973 when they staged Fiddler On The Roof at the Church Hill Theatre .
Sadly all good things come to an end and in July 2016 the final curtain closed for the last time, and The Smycms were no more. The Smycms are closed for business as an amateur musical society. Our last full production was Bugsy Malone staged in 2010. The last few years were a struggle as we tried to kick start the Company but to no avail and we finally took the decision to throw in the towel. The last two actions completed, was the disposal of the Smycms Costume Wardrobe, and the winding down of the Smycms accounts.
The only thing left is our website which is full of photos, information and memories from the last 50 years. We hope you will come back often and relive those memories or maybe even share some of your own recollections.
“Renew, release, let go. Yesterday’s gone. There’s nothing you can do to bring it back. You can’t “should’ve” done something. You can only DO something. Renew yourself. Release that attachment. Today is a new day!”
Steve Marboli, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience.

SMYCMS NEED YOUR SUPPORT
An Easy Way To Raise Funds
It’s like nectar but instead of earning points, each purchase generates a donation. So instead of going directly to a retailer’s website, go to easyfundraising first and choose the retailer you want to shop with – then everything you spend with that retailer earns a free donation for The Smycms. It’s completely free to use and your shopping won’t cost you a penny more.
On average, each retailer will donate 5% of the cost of your shopping – and those donations soon mount up.
So whatever you need to buy, from your weekly grocery shop or fashion must-have, to your business travel, office supplies or mobile phone, buy it via easyfundraising and raise money for The Smycms at no extra cost to you!

As an original member I would like to be advised of the 50th anniversary celebrations. I would think that a karaoke/singalong of songs from the smycms shows would be worth a whirl. It could also be used as a tribute to Paul if the songs which he performed over the years were done as a centre piece.Perhaps some of the originals could be persuaded to take part.

Logged on to book a couple of tickets for the show in April – and was very sad to read about its cancellation.
As a past (very past!) member, it would be such a shame to see SMYCMS disappear from the Edinburgh am dram circuit, especially in its pre- 50th Anniversary year (has it really been that long..?!) So good luck with organising a concert – I hope you receive lots of support!

Hey,
I am interested in starting up musical thertre. I have done acting for a while now but I have not done musical thertre before and I thought I might like it. I am taking a 4 month course on musical thertre starting January 2012. In the mean time I would like I would like to help out with any other aspects of your forthcoming production. Look forward to hear from you.
